A Kitchen Nightmare at Rekero Camp

Forget Kitchen Nightmares and Top Chef. Rekero Camp, one of our favorites, had a slightly hair-raising night last week. On Wednesday, a lion placed himself between the dining table and the kitchen just as dinner was ready to be served. Amazingly, the courses kept coming and going via a complicated obstacle course through the night bush, all in order to give the uninvited guest the respect he deserved.

Later, with the lion now relocated onto the edge of camp it was discovered that Rekero's resident porcupine had not been as agile as the waiters. A sad little pile of quills told the tale. At least with the wildebeest migration under way, the lions will have bigger prey on their menus.
