Uganda Introduces Two New Gorilla Families for Tracking
Aardvark Safaris is very pleased to hear the news this week that from June 2010 the Uganda Wildlife Authority will introduce two new gorilla families for gorilla tourism in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This brings the number of gorilla families that can be visited up to 9! With 8 permits available per gorilla family this means that 72 gorilla permits will be available each day.
The Orugonzo family (known as the O group) is located in the Mburameizi area of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and will be accessible from a number of lodges including Volcanoes' Bwindi Lodge and Gorilla Forest Camp.
The Kahungye family is located in the eastern part of the forest in the Nkuringo sector and is accessible from Volcanoes' Mount Gahinga Lodge and Clouds Lodge.
