Honeymoon Planning

Aardvark Safaris has been tailor-making individual honeymoons for nearly 15 years and we are well placed to guide you through all the possibilities, from sleeping under the stars to riding alongside the wildebeest migration.  Whatever your requirements, whether you are young, of the same sex or an older couple on your second honeymoon, we will be able to put together a perfect romantic get-away.

Things to consider are:

When are you planning to get married?  This will dictate where we suggest you go. In our summer and autumn, you can pretty much pick your safari and beach destination, but during the winter and spring we may advise either Southern or East Africa to make the most of weather and wildlife movements.

Take a couple of days to relax at the start of your trip. Safari days start early and being dragged out of bed at 5 o’clock in the morning when you’re tired from an overnight flight and weeks of wedding planning may not be the best way to start your trip, so we would often recommend a couple of days to relax to begin your trip. A couple of nights on the beach or at a lodge that is not specifically a safari destination makes a great start to a honeymoon.  If time allows we would also recommend some time relaxing at the end of your honeymoon as well – it’s very easy to add several nights on the beach after almost any safari destination.

What sort of accommodation you would like?  Styles of accommodation on an African honeymoon also vary widely; there are lodges, tented safari camps, private houses and hotels to choose from. Most of these are small, catering for up to 20 people at a time.

Is there anything specific you would like to see?  If you want to track mountain gorillas for example or experience the delights of Cape Town, let us know and we will plan an itinerary to take account of your wishes.
