Shoebills in Uganda
From our intrepid Tor (Victoria Langmead): It was a stunning morning as the sun rose over Lake Albert in Uganda. We watching fishermen casting their nets and then headed to the marshy area and saw two majestic Shoebills, totally calm and not worried that we were there. We just watched them go about their morning feed.... Adults can stand four to five feet tall and have a wingspan up to 125 inches. Shoebills are a vulnerable species with about 1,000 individuals left in Uganda and 5,000 worldwide.

Ever since I worked for a specialist bird watching tour operator I have wanted to see a Shoebill and now I have! I hope that future generations will be able to see these extraordinary birds.
