Rhinos arrive in Zambia

The final five black rhinos in a relocation/restocking program arrived recently in Zambia’s North Luangwa National Park. The work to reintroduce began in 2003 and these last rhinos, which arrived from South Africa, brought the numbers to 25 individuals, sufficient to be a ‘founder population’.

North Luangwa National Park is much less visited that its better known Southern cousin, but its wildlife viewing is nonetheless superb. With a limited road system visitors spend a lot of time on foot alongside a qualified, and armed, guide – participating in their experience, rather than just spectating!
