What did you do in the holidays?

Asked to bring a picture to illustrate what they’d been up to in the holidays, I suspect 12 year old Liam Stanton managed to horrify his teacher when his picture showed him raising a full size double barrelled shotgun into the air! This was just one of the things he’d got up to on holiday with his parents in Kenya. When his mum Katie sent it to us and passed on the story, it made us giggle.

Liam Shooting, LaikipiaKatie wrote in her note: I wanted to send a short note to tell you how much we enjoyed our walking safari with Henry and company. Of the four segments of our unforgettable first trip to Africa, this was my favorite. Although we had no idea what to expect at first, it was clear we could trust our Samburu guides, under the direction of Henry, to lead us into the wilderness safely. They did everything to spoil us and especially treated our 12 year old son, Liam, with warmth and kindness. We enjoyed the scenery, wildlife (not a whole lot to see), birds (guides very knowledgeable), animal tracks, food, cool temperatures, and New Years Eve celebration with song and dance. However, what will remain with us forever is the friendship we shared with the Samburu. Henry and Shalingi (I am sorry about spelling) are a dynamic duo in the back country. Please pass on a message that we send our greetings.

She also sent us some other photos, which I’ve posted below.
