Family Safaris
Growth
in family safaris continues and this area now accounts for about half
of our business. Most of us at Aardvark have children and we have plenty
of experience planning family itineraries. It’s not just parents
and children either – we have had several large family groups
spanning three generations.
Encouraged by this, we have decided it is time to update our family
brochure. The new one will be available shortly and will offer comprehensive
information on organising a safari with children. Family clients on
our database will automatically receive a copy when it’s printed.
Richard has also recently re-visited the malaria free areas of South Africa so is very up to date on this area. Among our favourite safari properties here are Jaci’s Safari Lodges, The Ant Collection and Jembisa. For a completely non-malarial trip these combine well with time on the coast around Cape Town where there are a multitude of properties to choose from.
Family tips/ideas
- For families travelling with younger children, we can recommend family tents (two bedrooms connected by a shared bathroom) and specialist family guides.
- For more adventurous families private mobile camping can be hugely enjoyable.
- For larger groups there are safari houses in Zambia’s remote Luangwa Valley and Zambezi National Park. Kenya also has a growing number of private houses to choose from.
- Safaris
in Southern Africa can be complemented by time on the beach in
Mozambique and on the South African coast, while East African
beach add ons include the Kenyan Coast and Zanzibar.
