Zarafa Dhow Suites

Zarafa Dhow Suites is a private and self-contained addition to the renowned Zarafa Camp in northern Botswana. With a view over the Zibalianja Lagoon at the eastern end of the Selinda Reserve, the Dhow Suites is located adjacent to the camp and shares its outstanding position, offering guests unparalleled access to superb wildlife viewing in this enormous private reserve.

Accommodation & Facilities
With two huge bedrooms, each with an open plan en-suite bathroom, and a central lounge-cum-dining room, the Dhow Suites is ideal for a family or friends travelling together. The design is classic safari style, with rich and lavish furnishings and a strong East African influence via old doors from Zanzibar and a tented structure with canvas walls and roofing. Much of the timber is recycled, with railways sleepers used for flooring, and salvaged mahogany for the furniture. The bathrooms feature a copper bathtub, an indoor shower and a unique outdoor ‘surround’ shower. The camp is run entirely on solar power, and every effort has been made to reduce its environmental footprint while offering unrivalled luxury for guests. The Dhow Suites is built on a large deck to give magnificent elevated views across the lagoon, and the outlook from every room is of the pristine wilderness and its riches. The deck offers plenty of space for alfresco dining while watching wildlife at the lagoon, and has a lovely plunge pool for cooling off during the heat of the day.

Activities and Wildlife
Guests at the Zarafa Dhow Suites have complete freedom to do as they wish each day, with a dedicated team including a chef, housekeeper and a guide to look after them. Meals may be eaten when and wherever it suits, and the entire 320,000 acres of the wildlife rich Selinda Reserve is at their disposal for totally private wildlife viewing. The activities on offer include day and night game drives, walking safaris, and a cruise on HMS Zib when water levels on the lagoon allow. The species to be seen here include lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, hippo, Nile crocodile, zebra, giraffe, hyena, and possibly wild dog. The birdlife in this paradise is also prolific and amazingly varied, thanks to the range of habitats on the reserve. A professional quality Canon DSLR camera with lenses and a pair of Swarovski binoculars are made available for guests to use during their stay.
