Ol Donyo Wuas is a private lodge on the slopes of the Chyulu Hills in Kenya. It is set in a 300,000 acre Masai community ranch and overlooks the plains to snow-capped Kilimanjaro beyond.
The Lodge sleeps 22 people in seven stand alone cottages. Some have two beds, while others are four bed cottages with their own private lounges and swimming pool. This four bed option is perfect for families or small groups of friends who prefer that extra privacy.  All bedrooms have spacious en-suite bathrooms with superb views, a shower and bath, flush loo and additional outdoor shower.  Each room (apart from the hide) has its own rooftop sundowner / "star-beds" spot where guests enjoy dramatic views over the plains and onto Mount Kilimanjaro. More adventurous guests have the option to sleep out safely on these rooftops to enjoy a night sleeping under the stars.
A wide variety of wildlife can be found in this area but due to the low number of tourists, the game is more shy than other areas. You need to work a little harder than you would in the Masai Mara, but you might be able to see gerenuk, hyena, bat ear foxes, lion, huge elephant, jackal, wild dog and large numbers of zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and other antelope. The combination of plains and hills around Ol Donyo Wuas is stunning, and there are good opportunities to walk and go on game drives or horse riding. Another great option for the more adventurous is to sleep out under the stars which can be organised from the lodge.
