Ol Malo House
Ol Malo House is a stunning newly built exclusive house located in the private 5,000 acre Ol Malo ranch in the vast Laikipia region of northern Kenya. The house is built on the edge of an escarpment with commanding views of the wild landscape below. The house is owned and was built by Rocky and Colin Francombe who also run a small lodge a few kilometres away from the house.
Accommodation & Facilities
The house is built out of natural stone, with thatched roofs and has a large sitting room, dining room, a library and has three ensuite double bedrooms. There are also two separate cottages - one a double ensuite and the second with two double ensuite rooms and a small sitting room. With a total of six bedrooms, the house can comfortably sleep twelve guests with lots of extra room for young. Each room has been individually decorated with stylish décor and many African touches. There is a beautiful pool around which is a large area which is perfect for sitting, eating, BBQ's and al fresco meals.
Wildlife & Activities
The house comes with a team of staff, private vehicles and guides so guests have the flexibility of doing what they want, when they want. A private house is the perfect option for families or groups of friends travelling together. Activities on offer at Ol Malo House include day and night games drives, horse riding, bush meals, escorted bush walks, and camel treks. Game includes kudu, giraffe, zebra, antelope, elephant, leopard and buffalo. Day excursions to the Karisia Hills and to the Samburu town of Maralal are available. There are various opportunities to interact with the Samburu. It is possible to spend time at one of the local manyattas and learn how the Samburu go about their daily lives plus see the morans (warriors) and young women – you will understand why 'samburu' means 'butterfly' in Maa when you see all their glorious beads & finery. Alternatively there is a pool to relax in, or excellent bird-watching to enjoy.
