Sosian is set amid stunning scenery and overlooks snowcapped Mount Kenya.  The old ranch house sits within the 24,000 acre working ranch on the Laikipia plateau.  The variety of habitat here, open plains to the north and dense scrublands to the south, supports plenty of game with Grevy’s zebra, Grant’s gazelle, elephant and buffalo often seen.   Cheetah, lion and wild dog have also been spotted in the area.

The 12 horses are thoroughbred crosses, ranging from 13.2hh to 16hh.  They provide novice, intermediate and advanced rides although riders must have enough experience to be able to canter out of trouble if necessary.  The rides are generally between one and three hours, although longer rides can be organised.   Riding lessons are available and there are also some small jumps. Sosian is not suitable for beginners due to the thick vegetation in some areas and the number of elephants nearby.   For non-riders, there is a wide range of activities to choose from, including swimming in rivers, camel rides, game drives, walking and bush dining.

The seven en-suite cottages are located in the tropical garden which is home to an array of magnificent plants and birds.  Each has been beautifully refurbished and provides an extremely comfortable and homely feel.
