Mvuu Lodge
Mvuu Lodge is situated in the heart of Liwonde National Park to the south of Lake Malawi, on the banks of a quiet lagoon flowing off the Shire River. Although Liwonde not renowned for its predators, hyena are often heard and there are large herds of antelope and plenty of elephant and hippos. There are also breeding programmes within a separate area of the national park specialising in black rhino, roan and eland, among others.
Accommodation & Facilities
The lodge offers comfortable tented accommodation in eight spacious ‘Hemingway’-styled safari tents, each with its own en suite facilities. Each tent at Mvuu Lodge has its own private viewing platform and is discreetly hidden between the thick undergrowth bordering the lagoon. The lodge has a swimming pool, sun deck and an al fresco dining platform overlooking the river and lagoon.
Wildlife & Activities
Your stay at Mvuu Lodge is on a full board basis, including three game activities per day. These centre around game drives by day and by night in open vehicles, walks and also boat safaris. By boat you can explore the Shire River and lagoons providing excellent opportunities for sightings of elephants, hippo, crocodile and many birds. Birding is rewarding - specialities include Lillian’s lovebird, brown breasted barbet, osprey, palmnut vulture, Pel's fishing owl and Livingstone’s flycatcher.
