Azura Retreat
Azura Retreat is Mozambique’s first luxury eco-boutique resort and is located on Benguerra Island within the Bazaruto National Park. Guests on this lovely unspoilt island are surrounded by stunning white sand beaches, sparkling turquoise seas, swaying palms and star studded nights.
Accommodation & Facilities
The lodge has been built entirely by hand and comprises just 15 villas which are set amid the indigenous trees and bush and are only footsteps from the beach. Azura blends designer chic with traditional Mozambique style, including carved wooden beams and local thatched roofs. The three luxury beach villas have wonderful sea views, a private sundeck and a beachside sala. The bedrooms are spacious and have both fan and air conditioning and an en-suite shower room. The outdoor facilities are completed by an outside shower and plunge pool. The ten infinity beach villas have the same beautiful views and luxurious facilities but come with bath and a private five metre infinity pool. There are also two private villas, Villa Amizade and the Presidential Villa. Amizade offers two ensuite, sea view bedrooms, a large swimming pool, lounge and dining areas and a beachfront garden. The larger Presidential Villa sleeps up to six guests, offering spacious lounge area with a fireplace, a tree-house lounging area, large pool with extensive lounging areas.
Wildlife & Activities
Azura offers wonderful Mozambican cuisine and service together with a wide range of activities including scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, swimming and dhow sailing. There is also a 5 star dive centre offering a full range of PADI courses. On dry land guests can visit the unique African spa, take island drives, beach picnics and day trips to Vilanculos.
