Pelican Bay Hotel
The Pelican Bay Hotel overlooks the lagoon at Walvis Bay on Namibia's Atlantic Coast.
Accommodation & Facilities
There are 50 smart rooms with ensuite facilities and connecting doors, all of which look out to the sea. There is a restaurant as well as a cosy lounge for coffees and snacks. The Presidential Suite has two bedrooms and a lounge and would be especially suited to families or friends wanting something special.
Wildlife & Activities
With sea mist rolling in on many mornings and then east winds in the afternoon, Swakopmund isn't a classic seaside resort. However there is plenty in the area to keep visitors occupied for a couple of nights and there are a number of activities available either in Swakopmund or nearby Walvis Bay. Quad bike excursions head inland into the dunes, whilst lie-down or stand-up sandboarding makes use of the dunes' relationship with gravity. Boat, catamaran and kayak trips to see the seal colonies on Pelican Point are are available from Walvis Bay - dolphins can also sometimes be seen here. The lagoon is a great place for sea birds with large numbers of pelicans, among others, present in the summer.
