This fantastic year-round lodge is located on a family farm in the heart of the Waterberg Mountains just two and a half hours north of Johannesburg. Set in this area of outstanding natural beauty, the farm continues to operate as a working cattle, game and essential oil ranch and offers 20,000 acres of superb riding country. Clear blue skies, breathtaking views and vast open spaces provide the prefect setting for a magnificent variety of riding. The terrain is wonderfully varied and offers a wide range of activities including cross country, polocrosse and dressage.

The 70 well cared for horses are of a good standard and are a mixture of Anglo-Arabs, thoroughbreds, Boerperds and cross breeds ranging in size from 14.1 hh to 16.3 hh, with something to suit all abilities. A maximum of ten riders can go out on safari for as long or as short as required and at pace dictated by the slowest member of the group. Horizon also offers two longer riding safaris on the nearby Dinaka game reserve. These five or eight night trips provide wonderful game viewing and exhilarating riding.

Horizon Horseback Lodge is a stunning and comfortable property overlooking a beautiful lake and the plains beyond. Non-riders are welcome here to take part in game drives and guided walks and when not riding, guests are able to relax by the pool or in the long shaded verandah and bar area.
