Hluhluwe River Lodge
Hluhluwe River Lodge is a friendly lodge that overlooks lake Saint Lucia in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal region. The lodge is ideally located close to the famous Hluhluwe-Umfolozi National Park and the coastal marine reserves of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (formerly known as the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park) enabling guests to use it as a springboard to explore this wild and remote part of South Africa.
Accommodation & Facilities
The lodge has a main building with a restaurant and lounge, which overlook the Hluhluwe river floodplain. The twelve thatched chalets are raised off the ground on stilts and are spread throughout the well maintained gardens. All rooms are en-suite with good showers with the 'honeymoon' chalets having freestanding baths. The lodge also has a pool, tucked away from the rooms and the main building in a quiet area of the gardens.
Wildlife & Activities
Guided game activities are centred vehicle based game drives in the nearby Hluhluwe-Umfolozi National Park, which is especially renowned for its varied ecosystems and white rhino population. The lodge has resident guides to take people out by boat on the Hluhluwe River or in open top game viewing vehicles. Horse riding, hiking, cultural quad biking tours or other guided day trips are also possible in the area and can be arranged and paid for locally.
