Phinda
Phinda Mountain Lodge, Rock Lodge, Forest Lodge and Vlei Lodge are situated in the Phinda Resource Reserve in Zululand, South Africa. The reserve spans seven diverse ecosystems and an extraordinary range of wildlife, including the Big Five.
Accommodation & Facilities
Mountain Lodge's main building is on top of a hill with magnificent views. It has a dining room and bar. The swimming pool is close by. The twenty rooms are spread throughout the wooded area below the main building with great views into the surrounding bush.
Built of roughly hewn stone and adobe, Rock Lodge is set into a rock face overlooking the magnificent Leopards Rock. Each of the six chalets is suspended off the edge of the cliff and has a large bedroom, en suite bathroom leading to an outdoor shower, as well as a lounge and outdoor deck leading to a private plunge pool.
Forest Lodge, set in rare sand forest, comprises 16 luxurious glass chalets built on stilts.
Vlei Lodge's 6 rooms are stunningly decorated with beautiful en suite bathrooms and individual plunge pools on the wooden verandahs. The views across the open vleis are breathtaking.
Wildlife & Activities
In addition to twice daily game drives in open Land Rovers, guests can enjoy riverboat cruises on the Mzinene River as well as canoeing. Phinda's close proximity to the Maputaland coastline means that guests can also enjoy beach activities such as snorkelling and scuba diving, deep sea fishing and beach picnics. The "Flight of the Fish Eagle" offers guests a bird's eye view of the pristine Maputaland coastline and some of the highest forested sand dunes in the world, as well as the famed World Heritage Site, Greater St Lucia Wetland Park.
