Wait a Little Horse Safaris run by Gerti and Philip Kusseler on 30 000ha of privately managed reserves close to South Africa's famous Kruger National Park provides some wonderful riding in one of the most beautiful wilderness regions in Africa. The many rivers in the area support an impressive population of flora and fauna, and the region is home a wide variety of wildlife including elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, buffalo, cheetah, and wild dog.
Both Philip and Gerti have ridden since childhood and Gerti has worked for many years as a horse trainer and ridden competitively. She looks after the training and care of the horses whilst Philip heads the guiding team. Wait a Little has double-bedded canvas safari tents on platforms, built and furnished in African safari style with private outside bathroom. From the decks guests enjoy a magnificent view over the Makhutswe River.
Guests ride for up to three hours in the early morning and again in the later afternoon, but there may be some all day rides with picnics. The Big Five Safari includes four nights at Wait A Little camp, one night in a simple bush camp and two nights at a tented Phiva lodge. Wait a Little is now offering a ten night horse safari on the renowned Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve. This itinerary includes nights at some of the most exclusive lodges in Africa, with three nights at Wait A Little, four nights at two different Makalali camps and three nights at the luxurious Garonga Safari Camp.
