Chada Katavi
Chada Katavi camp is located on the far south west of Tanzania sitting on the wide floodplains of Chada. There are no other camps, no mini-buses, and no other tourists in a million acres of National Park.
Accommodation is deliberately simple. Nights can either be spent out in bedrolls slung under borassus palms or the relative civilisation of the main camp with its canvas tents and linen sheets. Hot showers are hung from a bush behind each tent. The food is fresh and hearty with supper, served in the mess tent, often being frequented by an old elephant.
Time at Chada Katavi is spent viewing the abundant game, either by foot or land rover. Recent studies have observed that Katavi probably has a greater concentration of game than any other park in Tanzania. Depending on the time of year it is either a rampant water world or a dry bush desert with only a few fresh water springs. This concentrates the game and therefore the viewing making it an unforgettable experience. For the wildlife connoisseur there is also the chance to see sable and roan antelope.
