Sand Rivers Selous
Sand Rivers Selous is a truly outstanding camp situated on an outcrop of rock, providing stunning views over the Rufiji River, in Tanzania's Selous Game Reserve, which is the largest reserve in Africa and the second largest protected area in the world. The reserve itself has a very small number of camps and these are set miles apart.
Accommodation & Facilities
The camp has five spacious open-fronted stone and thatch cottages, two suites (Tagalala and Kipalala) and the private Rhino House. Each cottage has en-suite, river facing bathrooms, with flush toilets and powerful showers. The suite rooms have their own private plunge pool and lounge area. There is a large communal area with a dining room and bar. Set just up from the riverbank is a swimming pool in the shade of an ancient baobab tree. Sand River Selous also runs Rhino House which is a private house just 100 metres from the main lodge. Guests booking this property have the exclusivity and privacy of their own plunge pool, kitchen, chef, butler and private guide.
Wildlife & Activities
Guests can choose from walking safaris, boat trips or game drives in an open vehicle. There is also the opportunity to book a fly camping trip in advance. As well as large numbers of predators, prey and birds in the area, the opportunity to see packs of wild dog is a particular highlight of this area.
