Mnemba Island
Mnemba is a private island, which lies two kilometres north-east of the island of Zanzibar, just a short cruise in a motor boad. A pristine swathe of beach surrounds the island and the magnificent coral reef supports giant turtles and Ghost Crabs.
Accommodation & Facilities
Mnemba Island Lodge comprises just ten en suite cottages, bordered on three sides by tropical forest and overlooking the beach and coral reef. Each cottage has been hand-woven and thatched from tree branches and traditional Zanzibari palm-matting. A palm-covered walkway leads to the en suite bathroom and each cottage has a spacious outdoor verandah. The cottages are situated either side of the main living area where there is a dining area and adjoining lounge and bar. With grass mats underfoot and thatch overhead, these areas have an open view of the beach and coral reefs beyond.
Wildlife & Activities
Spectacular tropical fish drift through the lagoons providing guests on Mnemba Island with excellent diving and snorkelling. Traditional dhow sailing trips, canoeing, fishing and windsurfing are also available.
