Chada Katavi

Chada Katavi Camp is in the far south west of Tanzania, hidden in a grove of tamarind and palm trees on the edge of the wide Chada floodplains. There are few other camps, very few other tourists and no mini-buses in the million acres of Katavi National Park. Accommodation & Facilities
The accommodation is deliberately simple with spacious traditional canvas tents, relaxed and comfortable furniture, and crisp linen sheets. The en-suite bathrooms have eco-flush loos and hot ‘bucket showers’ that are hung behind each tent. The food is fresh and hearty with supper, served in the mess tent, often being frequented by an old elephant. Lunches are often eaten in the shade of the trees, while looking out over the floodplain.

Wildlife & Activities
Time here is spent viewing the abundant wildlife, either by foot or four wheel drive, and exploring the wonderfully varied habitats and scenery in the park. Depending on the time of year it is either a water world or a dry savannah with only a few fresh water springs. The few water points in the dry season concentrates the wildlife, giving guests an unforgettable wildlife viewing experience. Aside from numerous lions and big herds of buffalo, for the wildlife connoisseur there is also the chance to see sable and roan antelope. Fly camping is on offer at additional cost, and this is an excellent way to see the more remote reaches of the park.
