Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp

Gorilla Forest Camp is located on a steep hillside (meaning lots of steps!) just inside Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is built into the thick secondary rainforest enabling guests to truly experience natural forest sounds and sights. Since the lodge is close to the Park entrance and visitor briefing point, is the perfect starting point to track gorillas.

Accommodation & Facilities
This luxurious camp has 10 spacious tents with thatched roofs, decorated in a smart contemporary style with Africa inspired artefacts and fabrics. The tents have en-suite bathrooms built from stone, with a bathtub looking out into the rainforest, a fabulous place to relax after a long trek. The tents are built of raised wooden decks and have a verandah where guests can relax or enjoy private dining. The camp has a large thatched dining area and bar. Food is delicious and of an international style cuisine using local ingredients.

Wildlife & Activities
More than half the world’s wild mountain gorilla population is resident in Bwindi, with a number of habituated groups which can be visited as part of the National Park’s regulated tracking programme. Although this is the reason most guests come to Bwindi the Park is home to ninety three mammal species, including eleven types of primate, as well as almost 350 types of birds. These animals and birds can be viewed on varied lengths of nature walks alongside a knowledgeable National Park’s guide. The camps supports a number community development projects locally, and guests are welcome to visit the Ebenezer School and Bwindi Community Hospital.
