Masoala Forest Lodge

Masoala Forest Lodge is in a clearing in the primary forest on a beach on the Masoala Peninsula in the north-east of Madagascar, with fantastic views across the bay of Antongil. Access is by boat, in the morning, across the Bay from Maroantsetra.

Accommodation & Facilities
The seven tents at Masoala Forest Lodge are all on platforms under thatch and have verandahs with hammocks. The private bathrooms are set a short distance away from the tents and have flush loos and proper hot water showers. There is a spacious main dining area and lounge overlooking the beach.

Wildlife & Activities
There are lots of possibilities for activities from the beach at Masoala Forest Lodge including snorkelling and sea kayaking. Guided walks into the Masoala National Park provide good opportunities to view wildlife, including a number of different lemur species, birds and endemic flora. Night walks in the private reserve around the lodge are a great way to see some of Madagascar’s prolific nocturnal wildlife. Hikes to a nearby waterfall, along the beach, and visits to the local villages are on offer, and fishing and whale watching can also be arranged.
