The Blue Train

While crossing South Africa’s varied landscapes, the luxurious and famous Blue Train affords views that are arguably some of the most breathtaking anywhere in the world. By day, guests can relax in the observation lounges or in the privacy of their own rooms. At night there is exquisite a la carte dining in the elegant dining car, complemented by only the best South African wines. The Blue Train’s most frequent routes are between Pretoria and Cape Town (each way takes 27 hours), although there are also legs to Durban, George, Port Elizabeth and Botswana.  En-route to Cape Town there is a stopover and excursion in Kimberley, where we take a step back in time to the days of the diamond rush.

Accommodation & Facilities
The Blue Train combines all the comfort and luxury of a five star hotel and can accommodate around 76 passengers. Accommodation is either in deluxe suites, or the slightly larger luxury suites. Both room types are en-suite and have either a private bath or shower. There is an emphasis on fine cuisine and guests are asked to dress up for dinner.
