Elewana Tortilis Camp

Tortilis Camp sits on the side of a small hill in a private concession just outside the Amboseli National Park, one of Africa’s most beautiful and wildlife rich parks. Just a 45 minute flight south east from Nairobi, Tortilis has a wonderful location looking onto the north face of snow-capped Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain.

Accommodation & Facilities
Tortilis Camp is a luxury tented camp, with 16 large tents under thatched canopies set amongst a grove of mature, shady trees, all with fine views out into the surrounding wilderness. There are comfortable beds, electric lights and en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water. The tents are covered in thatch to keep them as cool as possible, and you can relax and unwind on your private veranda or around the pool. A spacious family tent comprising two ensuite bedrooms, and a private house with two ensuite bedrooms and a private verandah, are both ideal for families or groups of friends. The camp has a large dining room and spacious, comfortable bar both with fabulous views of Mount Kilimanjaro. There is also an open air fireplace on the hillside below the main lodge where guests can enjoy after dinner drinks with the stars above them.

Wildlife & Activities
Amboseli is famous for its elephant population, which spends much of its time in the swamps. Morning and afternoon game drives will take you into the park to see these magnificent creatures, as well as zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and many predators such as lion. It is also possible to walk in the community area outside the park with a local Masai. More a nature walk than a walking safari, you can learn about the medicinal uses of many of the local plants and if necessary he will make you a toothbrush from a freshly cut tree branch.
