The African Safaris

Daniel NelsonToday woke up at 5.30am and got dressed and had breakfast. At breakfast I had fruit salad and after breakfast I cleaned my teeth and got ready for the game drive.

For the game drive Nyambi took us he was great! On the drive we saw giraffes, elephants, impala, warthog, crocs, and hippo’s but no lions or wild dogs. We stopped for a drink and a few cakes and headed back for camp. We had to cross the river by boat. We couldn’t swim other wise we would have got eaten by the crocs or even hippo’s.

When we got back to the camp we were greeted by the staff and we were given nice cold flannels.

They took us to the bar and Chloe and I had a coke and mum and dad had a beer. I went back to the room to listen to my I-pod when the drum went for lunch.

At lunch we had bread roll and beef lasagne it was really nice and what made it even better they arranged an elephant to drink in the lagoon in front of where we were having our lunch what service.

Elephants, ZambiaAfter lunch we got dressed for swimming and we got taken to the pool for 2 hours it was really refreshing. Then we got taken back to get ready for tea before the game drive. For tea there was shortbread, and me and Chloe had hot chocolate.

We drove from the camp into the park hoping to see lions and wild dogs we didn’t see any. We stopped for a break to have our sundowners and then drove off looking for lions there was another man with us his name was Efran he was our spotter and was really good. We were heading back for camp when Efran saw something move in the bushes and I thought it was just a wild cat then Chloe said it’s a cheetah but she was wrong it was a leopard it was amazing our first of the big cats.

We followed it for about 10 minutes then we saw a buffalo 10 meters away from the leopard and the leopard ignored the buffalo. After moving off Efran saw an animal in the bushes. All the other cars had passed, he was a great spotter. It was a lion with 2 cubs, it was amazing the cubs were so cute. It couldn’t have been a better night.

We went out of the national park happy and on our way back to our lodge we saw hippos it was great, then we saw a 4 meter crocodile it was massive. We got too close and it ran off like a cheetah. WeCrocodile, Zambia drove back into the camp and told everyone about what happened and they were really glad because we hadn’t seen a lion or a leopard before. It was the end of our holiday and we went to the bar and had dinner and went to bed a happy family.
