Nkwichi

Nkwichi, located on the Mozambican shores of Lake Malawi, is set in the private Manda Wilderness Area with four kilometres of beaches and rocky shoreline, rivers, forest and bush. Built by the lodge staff, Nkwichi has been innovatively designed and constructed using a mix of traditional local methods and western styles, specifically to blend with the natural environment.

Accommodation and Activities
The lodge consists of four standard chalets, two premier chalets and a private house.  The chalets are all unique and have been designed to blend in with the surroundings. All have private bathrooms, with baths set in the rocks and showers hanging from trees.  All chalets have been set back from the lakeshore making them invisible from the lake. They are also far enough apart to give a sense of total privacy but not that of isolation.  Nkwichi also has the unique Lake of Stars’ Bed, where guests have the opportunity to sleep on a deserted beach under the stars in a luxurious four poster bed.

Makolo House, a superb private house a 15 minute walk from the main lodge, comprises two en-suite bedrooms and an elevated platform overlooking the lake. It comes with a private chef and guests are welcome to make full use of the facilities at the main lodge.

Activities
The lodge offers a wide range of activities, such as canoeing on the lake or local rivers, guided bush walks and trekking looking for birds and wildlife, snorkelling, kite flying, surfing and visits to local community projects. Wildlife in the form of birds and smaller game is plentiful. Pristine bush surrounds a perfect white sandy beach where wild dog have occasionally been sighted. You have the option at mealtimes to be wined and dined under the African stars on the beach, beside your chalet, or in many of the other romantic settings around the lodge.
