Outer Islands
The Outer Islands are scattered across the ocean up to 600 miles from the capital, Mahé. Havens for wildlife, only a few offer accommodation to visitors. Of those that do, Bird Island is named for its most regular guests, the million and a half sooty terns who visit to breed; Denis is popular with divers and honeymooners; Desroches has a great drop-off for divers and also offers windsurfing, kayaking and tennis. Frégate Island and North Island offer the ultimate in eco-chic luxury.
