Sausage Tree Camp

Sausage Tree Camp is in a stunning location on the banks of the Zambezi River in the heart of one of Lower Zambezi National Park’s best wildlife viewing areas. The camp is positioned in a shady grove of Natal mahogany trees and overlooks an expanse of narrow channels and low set reed islands teeming with game, with the magnificent Zambezi escarpment as the backdrop.

Accommodation & Facilities

The accommodation at Sausage Tree Camp comprises seven large, luxurious tented suites and a two bedroomed suite known as “Kigelia House”. They are well spaced along the river bank, allowing elephant and hippo to amble in between. The contemporary style tents are equipped with the essentials along with four poster beds, an indoor bathroom and open air shower, and a shaded verandah with chairs, a plunge pool and a river view. The central dining room and bar is fronted by a large teak deck, overhanging the Zambezi River and the swimming pool is idyllically situated under shading mahogany trees. Meals are often eaten outside by the fire.

Wildlife & Activities

Sausage Tree offers a wide range of activities, and a private guide and vehicle per booking, including game drives by day and night, walking safaris, canoe trips, boat cruises and fishing. Elephant, hippo and buffalo are seen in camp daily. The wildlife is prolific in the Lower Zambezi, and guests also have a good chance of seeing, waterbuck, zebra, impala, bushbuck and kudu. There are good numbers of lion, wild dog, leopard and hyena in the area.
