Baker’s Lodge

Baker’s Lodge is located on the south bank of the River Nile in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most famous wildlife area.

Accommodation & Facilities

The lodge has 10 suites built under thatch on wooden decks to take advantage of the cool breezes and spectacular views. Harking back to the time when Samuel Baker, the British explorer, discovered Lake Albert, the lodge is constructed of local materials, and uses modern solar technology. Each room has an ensuite bathroom, is comfortably furnished and has beautiful views of the Nile. The central dining and lounge areas are lovely spots to relax and chat about the day’s wildlife viewing.

Wildlife & Activities

Murchison Falls National Park forms the core of Uganda’s largest protected area. Together with the adjoining Bungungu and Karumu wildlife reserves, it forms a vast wilderness covering nearly 2,000 square miles and containing a wide variety of wildlife including elephant, buffalo, lion, giraffe, hippo, plenty of antelope species, forest primates and 450 bird species. The mighty Nile, the longest river in the world, flows through the heart of the park and it is here that you’ll find the explosive, 130 foot Murchison Falls where the Nile is forced through a 25 foot gap in the Rift Valley escarpment. During your stay, you will have the opportunity to do wildlife drives, walks around the Falls, boat trips, and go fishing for the Nile Perch.
