Bisate Lodge

Bisate Lodge is located in 27 hectares of intriguing and varied topography on the edge of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. It is convenient for the park headquarters where gorilla tracking activities start, but far enough away for guests to feel they are part of a remote wilderness.

Accommodation & Facilities
Built in the amphitheatre of an eroded volcanic cone, the main lodge and rooms at Bisate have wonderful views over the surrounding volcanic peaks and into the national park beyond. The six generous villas comprise a bedroom, lounge and bathroom, all warmed by a central fireplace. Each has a private deck which is a great spot on which to relax and take in the lush surroundings. The spherical thatched structures echo the thousands of hills that dot the Rwandan landscape and vernacular building styles, while the richly decorated interiors celebrate Rwandan culture. Bisate has a beautiful main building with a dining room, bar and lounge, all with fantastic views of Mt Bisoke from the large windows and the viewing deck.

Wildlife & Activities
Tracking mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park is the primary wildlife activity for guests staying at Bisate Lodge. The experience is enhanced with evening presentations and informal chats with an on-site gorilla expert, researcher or scientist who will share with guests their experiences of these charismatic animals. Aside from gorilla tracking, guests can track golden monkeys, visit nearby villages and walk in the local area. Visitors will also be able to experience the reforestation project being undertaken by the lodge which will lead to recolonization of indigenous birds and animal species. Guests can make use of the Olympus Photo Hub at the lodge, and arrange in-villa massages for an additional fee.
