Boschendal

Boschendal lies in the heart of the winelands in the beautiful Drakenstein Valley. It’s around 60km from Cape Town and an easy drive from the towns of Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl, so a perfect base from which to explore the region. The lovely setting and fine wines produced here have drawn visitors for years, but it is only recently that accommodation has become available on the estate with the renovation of a number of farm cottages. Children of all ages are welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities
Guests can choose from 22 cottages, ranging in size from one to five bedrooms, spread through the grounds. Some are within walking distance of the winery, restaurant, farm shop and deli while others are up to 2km away and will require a vehicle. With the emphasis on stylish simplicity the guest cottages are authentic and rural, yet contemporary in character. They are all comfortably appointed, with a full kitchen or kitchenette, and some have access to a shared pool. The choice for family visitors includes:

Orchard Cottages which range from one to four bedrooms and are available clustered in close proximity so can accommodate large family groups. Cottages include kitchenettes, outdoor dining areas and a large shared swimming pool.
Rhodes Cottage consists of a main house with a garden annex. The main house has one en-suite bedroom and two further bedrooms which share a bathroom. The garden annex has two en-suite bedrooms with king or twin beds.
Trout Cottage is a three bedroom, two bathroom cottage. Two bedrooms have king or twin beds and the third has a bunk bed for two children under 12 years.
Clarence Cottage is a two bedroom cottage with large kitchen, fireplace and living area. A porch runs the length of the house and overlooks a private garden complete with private braaii.

Guests staying at Orchard, Rhodes and Trout Cottages will need to have their own transport as they are 2kms from the werf (farm homestead).

Eating & Sleeping
Dining options include eating at the Werf Restaurant, Farm Shop & Deli, the Rhone Homestead or picnic area. Alternatively, breakfast, lunch or dinner baskets can be brought to your cottage. The Farm Shop & Deli is a relaxed and child friendly environment and a children’s menu is available.  Babysitting is available from local company Winelands Nannies.

Activities
Guests staying at Boschendal have access to the entire estate and can enjoy mountain biking and walking trails, trout fishing and swimming in the dams, wine tasting and cellar tours – or can just sit, read and relax in the beautiful surroundings. Hop in the car and it’s a short drive to other wine estates and the wineland towns for which this region is so famous.
