Chilo Gorge

Chilo Gorge Lodge sits on a cliff above the Save River in south-eastern Zimbabwe, just outside the Gonarezhou National Park. The lodge has excellent views of the river, where wildlife can often be seen drinking, and of the edge of the park beyond.

Accommodation & Facilities
There are ten attractively designed rooms at Chilo Gorge, built of stone and thatch, each of which offers an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a flush loo. The rooms all look out over the river and large private verandahs with comfortable armchairs provide the perfect spot from which to enjoy the view. The lodge has a number of decks from which the gorge and river can be seen along with the wildlife that comes to drink. The main building has two floors, a shop, a bar, a dining room, and a lounge. The terrace in front of the lodge has a pool which also offers views of the river below.

Wildlife & Activities
Game drives and walking safaris into the Gonarezhou National Park and Chilo Gorge’s private concession, walking trails to local scenic spots, and visits to the Chilojo Cliffs are among the activities on offer at Chilo Gorge. In addition, visits to local communities can also be arranged during your stay, as well as sundowner excursions and bird-watching trips. Wildlife that can be seen in the area includes elephant, lion, buffalo, wild dog, eland, hippo, crocodile, zebra, giraffe, numerous species of antelope, and, for the fortunate, rhino.
