Encounter Mara

Encounter Mara is a classic tented safari camp set in the private Naboisho Conservancy in Kenya’s Masai Mara. The camp sits within an acacia forest, and has excellent views across the surrounding savannah.

Accommodation & Facilities
Encounter Mara comprises ten safari tents, each giving guests lovely views from the bedroom and the bathroom.  The tents feature a spacious bedroom, with plenty of storage space, and en-suite bathrooms with flush loos and bucket showers; hot water is available on request all day. The tents have a verandah with comfortable chairs, which is an ideal spot for some relaxation while still being able to see wildlife. The camp has a spacious lounge and dining tent, although meals are often eaten outside. A hide overlooking a salt lick is excellent for photographers, and the fireplace where guests gather for drinks before and after dinner is a very sociable spot.

Wildlife & Activities
The Naboisho conservancy is owned by the local Masai community, and has among the best wildlife viewing in East Africa. Elephant, lion, buffalo, giraffe, leopard, cheetah, hyena, wildebeest, zebra and topi are among the species that you might see here, along with a large variety of birdlife. Day and night drives in 4×4 vehicles and visits to the local Masai communities are  on offer at Encounter Mara, and the conservancy also allows driving off road to significant sightings.
