Huab Under Canvas

Huab Under Canvas is located in the Huab Conservancy in Damaraland.  Nestled in a grove of mopane trees on the banks of a tributary of the Huab River, the semi-mobile camp is virtually invisible from anywhere around.   The camp offers guests great comfort while allowing them to relax and revel in the feeling of space and solitude that makes Namibia so special. Good food and wine are an important part of the overall experience, so camp catering is of a suitably high standard. The camp is situated in an area known for desert adapted black rhino and elephant.

Accommodation & Facilities
The accommodation at Huab Under Canvas is in up to eight Meru style safari tents set on raised platforms.  The tents have camp beds, solar lighting, and storage for clothing and other belongings, and an open air en-suite bathroom a flush loo, bucket shower and washbasin. Chairs on the verandah allow guests to relax and enjoy the surrounding view, while a plunge pool a short walk from camp is somewhere to cool off. Camp chefs have their own unique specialities, and delicious wholesome meals are prepared using fresh local produce wherever possible.

Wildlife & Activities
Activities include tracking desert adapted rhino which is completely private and done in an area that has the highest tracking success rate in north western Namibia; exploring the Huab River in search of desert adapted elephants; nature walks and scenic game drives; as well as the possibility of visiting some nearby prehistoric rock engravings.   The area is home to Hartmann’s mountain zebra, oryx, springbok, steenbok, klipspringer, elephant, rhino, spotted and brown hyena, jackal, leopard, cape fox and African wild cat.
