Ibo Island Dhow Safaris

Ibo Island Dhow Safaris operate just off the northern coast of Mozambique in the Quirimbas archipelago. The typical itinerary is a week long, beginning at Pemba and ending at Ibo Island itself. The safari consists of island hopping, bush camping, kayaking and dhow sailing up this remote, beautiful and very unspoilt stretch of coast.

Accommodation & Facilities
Ibo Island Dhow Safaris use a 12 metre traditional East African dhow as a mother ship and a base, and offer guests the chance to camp for four nights on remote uninhabited islands and isolated beaches, as well as enjoying a few nights of luxury at Ibo Island Lodge as a finale to the trip. The camp uses simple dome tents, and a lightweight mess tent.

Activities
The activities offered during an Ibo Island Dhow Safari include sea kayaking, dhow sailing, snorkelling, exploring mangrove forests, bird watching, a guided tour of Ibo Island and its remarkable history, and of course numerous opportunities to swim in the warm turquoise sea.
