Ikuka Safari Camp

Ikuka is perched on the edge of the Mwagusi escarpment, with spectacular views across the vast Ruaha National Park in southern Tanzania. While Ruaha may be a little less well known than other parks, it has some of Africa’s largest remaining populations of elephant and lion.

Accommodation & Facilities
Ikuka is a small owner run camp with just seven beautifully appointed rooms with panoramic views of the Ruaha wilderness. One room has two bedrooms on two levels, and its own plunge pool, and is ideal for a family. The open fronted thatched rooms have super-king beds, comfortable seating, and en-suite bathrooms with rain-showers. The interiors are made with white quartz along with other locally sourced sustainable materials. The central lodge has a well-stocked bar, a comfortable lounge, an airy dining space, an upstairs chill-out library, outside lounging space and a swimming pool. The camp also has a star bed nearby.

Wildlife & Activities
The wildlife population in Ruaha is excellent and includes large numbers of elephant, buffalo, lion, kudu, giraffe, zebra, and impala. Ruaha has among the greatest diversity of mammal and bird species in East Africa, as well as many magnificent trees. Ikuka Camp offers morning and afternoon wildlife drives in open 4WD safari vehicles, and excellent walking safaris (additional park fees payable direct) can be arranged before or during a stay. Guests can also spend a night under the stars at the Rock House star bed nearby.
