Kalahari Plains Camp – currently closed

Kalahari Plains Camp is located in the northern eastern sector of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, about 28kms from Deception Valley. It overlooks a small waterhole at the edge of a ‘pan’, and is located in an area with plentiful desert wildlife.

Accommodation & Facilities
The camp consists of 11 large tents with en-suite bathrooms. The tents are of a unique design, and insulated against the heat of the desert. They also feature a viewing deck and an upstairs platform to allow for ‘sleep-outs’. The camp has a dining area, lounge, a bar with a fireplace, swimming pool, library, a small shop, and a Photo Hub studio.

Wildlife & Activities
This particular area of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve offers year round viewing of key desert-adapted wildlife. Wildlife sightings can include the sensational black-maned Kalahari lion, as well as one of the highest concentrations of cheetah in southern Africa. Small predators include meerkats, Cape fox, honey badger, black-backed jackal and several mongoose species. Among the herbivore species easily seen are gemsbok (oryx), springbok, red hartebeest, grey duiker and steenbok. Early morning and late afternoon drives, nature-walks with a Basarwa guide, and professionally guided bush walks are good ways to explore this fascinating wilderness.
