Kuyenda

Kuyenda is a rustic and intimate seasonal camp in the southern part of South Luangwa National Park, near the Manzi River. Part of the Bushcamp Company’s collection, this lovely camp sits beneath evergreen mahoganies which provide welcome shade in the heat of the day. Its situation close to the river attracts plenty of wildlife and allows for excellent sightings, without even leaving camp.

Accommodation & Facilities
There are just six rooms at Kuyenda, all privately located and constructed of timber, reed and thatch on teak decks. The rooms are very spacious and have great views across the grassy plain to the distant Chindeni Hills. Every room has a large en-suite outdoor bathroom with a flush loo and solar heated shower. Ventilation in the rooms is excellent thanks to the large front windows, which are screened to keep insects out, and plenty of space between the roof and the rear walls. Meals are usually eaten outside but there is also a large, comfortable, and airy mess and lounge set on a low deck with open sides and a thatch roof.

Wildlife & Activities
Lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, hyena, giraffe, zebra, warthog, and kudu are among the species regularly seen near Kuyenda, along with numerous birds. Walking safaris are a big feature of a stay here, and there is a wide variety of habitats close to the camp. Guests can see superb wildlife while on foot here as well as learning much about the wilderness and its residents. Walks can last for several hours, with one of the camps’ excellent guides bringing the bush to life for guests. Day and night wildlife drives are also possible and these offer superb photographic opportunities.
