Laikipia Wilderness

Laikipia Wilderness Camp is a small, personal bush camp near to the Ewaso Narok River in northern Kenya, and is a great place to enjoy a true wilderness experience. Founded by a husband and wife team with years of experience, it’s a perfect spot for families or anyone looking for something just a little different.

Accommodation & Facilities
The camp comprises six en-suite Meru style tents, all built on platforms with a private veranda and a partly open air en-suite bathroom.  Four of the tents are set up for a family.  Three of these have a second bedroom taking up to three children while the fourth is an extra large tent with a second bedroom that can accommodate four children.  The large mess tent is the central reception area with a dining room, sitting room and library.  There is a viewing point with a campfire around which meals are often eaten, and a riverside deck which is perfect for bush meals or sleep outs, either under the stars or the thatched canopy.

Wildlife & Activities
The area is fantastic for elephant, giraffe, hippo, Grevy’s zebra, leopard, wild dog, lion, striped and spotted hyena, aardwolf, aardvark, and over 280 bird species.  Wild dog fans can participate in the Laikipia Predator Project, collecting data from a number of animals fitted with radio collars for this research.  Other activities include walking, day and night game drives, tracking lion, swimming, tubing and fishing in the river, village visits, birding and fly camping.
