Lamai Serengeti

Lamai Serengeti is a stunning lodge in the far north of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. The lodge is split into two camps and has been intelligently designed to blend organically into the rocky kopjes around which it is built, and to be as unobtrusive as possible. Children from eight years are welcome at the main lodge. Children of five years and above are welcome at Lamai Private.

Accommodation & Facilities
Lamai Serengeti has 12 rooms which are built of canvas, plaster and timber, all with en-suite bathrooms with big showers, flush loos, and a double basin. The spacious rooms also have outside decks with plenty of seating space. Three of the 12 rooms are suitable for families and feature a main bedroom with king-size bed, and a twin bedroom for children. The rooms are connected via the shared bathroom. Every room has a spectacular view, many looking out over towards the Mara River to the Isuria escarpment in Kenya’s Masai Mara.

The lodge is split into two camps: the main lodge with eight rooms, and the four room Lamai Private which can be booked exclusively to ensure a private and personal experience for all guests. Each camp has its own mess area as well as plenty of alternative private dining places, a spacious lounge and bar, a pool and many comfortable look-out areas to sit and relax.

Eating & Sleeping
For maximum flexibility families are encouraged to book a private vehicle in which case children can have separate meal times to suit. The chef is happy to discuss the children’s preference on arrival and provide accordingly. There is a children’s menu featuring nursery favourites such as cauliflower cheese, pizza, sausages and mash etc. Specific dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notice.

There are no formal childcare facilities available so parents must be responsible for their children at all times.

Wildlife & Activities
The lodge is in a prime location for good year round game viewing because of its close proximity to permanent water. Lamai Serengeti offers game drives and bush walks which will allow guests to see wildlife such as lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, crocodile, elephant and a variety of antelope. It is also close to the Mara River so ideally suited as a base from which to view the famous ‘crossings’ as the wildebeest stream over the river into the Masai Mara during the migration months of July to October.

Specifically for children …
Activities are planned with the family and will be discussed between the guides, management and guests when they arrive into camp.
