Laragai House

Laragai House is an exclusive use bush home situated within the privately owned Borana Ranch on the edge of the Laikipia plateau in northern Kenya. Originally built by Lords Valentine and Cecil as a country retreat, Laragai offers complete privacy and comfort in a breathtaking setting. It’s fully exclusive so there is no need to worry about other guests and children are welcomed from any age.

Accommodation & Facilities
The house, which can sleep up to 16 in eight beautifully decorated bedrooms, is ideal for families There are two luxurious master suites with king-size beds and exceptional views, three beautifully appointed double bedrooms (one of which has twin beds) with private bathrooms, a twin bedroom with a private bathroom and two children’s bedrooms that share a bathroom. Two additional extra beds and two cots are available for children/infants. The large sitting room has a huge open fireplace, comfortable sofas as well satellite TV and WiFi. There is also a games room if you can tear yourself away from the wildlife. The large dining terrace has uninterrupted and spectacular views of the Kenyan wilderness: Lolokwe and Wamba Mountains dominate the far horizons to the north and Mount Kenya looms out of the clouds to the south and 3,000 feet below is Kenya’s Northern Frontier District.

Fully staffed, Laragai is the perfect place to be spoilt and looked after with delicious home cooked meals being prepared for you by the cook as well as a private safari guide on hand to show you this spectacular region of East Africa. The heated swimming pool is child friendly with a slope in and a shallow end. There is a big safe lawn for games and as the house is fenced, there is no conflict with wild animals.

Eating & Sleeping
Mealtimes for children are to suit and the kitchen can provide child friendly food.  Babysitting, payable locally, is provided by the housekeeping staff.

Wildlife & Activities
Guests at Laragai have the flexibility to pick and choose how to fill their days; activities on offer include day and night drives in the company of expert guides both locally and in the reserves nearby, guided bush walks, fly fishing on Mount Kenya, bird watching, mountain biking, tennis, horse riding, hikes and visits to the local tannery. Helicopter day trips north to the start of Lake Turkana can also be arranged. Alternatively you may prefer to enjoy a long lunch and relax beside the beautiful swimming pool and absorb the outstanding views.
