Mapula Lodge occupies a prime position in a 220,000 acre private concession in the northern reaches of Botswana’s fabled Okavango Delta. The lodge has a shaded setting on a tree covered island overlooking a large lagoon which is home to numerous hippo.
Accommodation & Facilities
Mapula Lodge has nine rooms built from canvas and thatch, all with en-suite bathrooms that have inside and outside showers. The rooms have decks at the front with easy chairs, and a small lounge area. The lodge has an airy and spacious thatched main building with an open front to allow views across the plains. There is a bar, lounge, dining room and a small library and a good pool with a view.
Wildlife & Activities
The wildlife viewing at Mapula is excellent and, since it is one of very few camps in the area, it’s almost always private. Lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, and zebra are among the species that are regularly seen, with more unusual animals such as caracal, serval and mongoose also spotted. Day and night wildlife drives in open vehicles, boat cruises, seasonal fishing, and mokoro trips along the waterways are among the ways to experience this spectacular wilderness. Helicopter flights and seasonal balloon flights can also be arranged at an additional cost.
