Mpala Jena Camp

Mpala Jena Camp sits on the banks of the Zambezi in a private concession in the 56,000 hectare Zambezi National Park about 12 miles upstream from Victoria Falls. The camp is positioned in a shady grove of sausage, waterberry and rain trees, with open views across this beautiful and wild stretch of the river.

Accommodation & Facilities
Mpala Jena Camp consists of three double rooms and two family rooms with two bedrooms. The rooms are built on timber decks and partially made from canvas with stone rear walls. All have en-suite bathrooms with inside showers and outside showers and bath tubs. There is a ceiling fan over the beds, and the tents have mosquito mesh fronts to allow the breeze to flow through. Along with a fridge and plentiful storage, each tent also features a large lounge space. The decks outside have a shaded day bed. The thatched open-sided main lodge buildings include a dining room, lounge, and a ‘beach’ bar with a sandy floor. The large deck outside has a swimming pool, a pool lounge, and an al fresco dining table. Meals are a sociable affair and often eaten outside, and guests can watch the chef at work in the interactive open kitchen.

Wildlife & Activites
Mpala Jena Camp is inside the Zambezi National Park, and offers good wildlife viewing as a result. The animals that can be seen include lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, zebra and impala. The bird-life is also prolific thanks to the river and woodland habitat. The activities offered include wildlife drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, fishing, and canoeing. There are numerous other activities on offer including a visit to the Victoria Falls themselves, and white water rafting, bungee jumps, horse riding, and flights over the falls.
