Mpala Jena Camp
Mpala Jena Camp sits on the banks of the Zambezi in a private concession in the Zambezi National Park about 12 miles upstream from Victoria Falls. The camp is positioned in a shady grove of sausage, waterberry and rain trees, with open views across this beautiful and wild stretch of the river.
Accommodation & Facilities
Mpala Jena Camp consists of four huge safari tents and one magnificent suite with two bedrooms. The individual tents are set on large decks made from recycled hardwoods, and have en-suite bathrooms with inside and outside showers, as well as a big bath tub. There is an ‘Evening Breeze’ cooling system over the beds, and the tents have mosquito mesh fronts to allow the breeze to flow through. Along with a fridge and plentiful storage, each tent also features a large lounge space. The decks outside have a plunge pool and a day bed. The mess tent comprises a dining room, lounge, wine cellar and an al fresco dining table on the expansive decking. Meals are a sociable affair and often eaten outside. The camp also has an interactive kitchen, where guests can watch as the chef prepares their meals.
Wildlife & Activities
Mpala Jena Camp is inside the Zambezi National Park, and offers good wildlife viewing as a result. The animals that can be seen include lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, zebra and impala. The birdlife is also prolific thanks to the river and woodland habitat. The activities offered include game drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, and canoeing, as well as a guided visit to the Victoria Falls. There are numerous other activities on offer at Victoria Falls, such as white water rafting, and flights over the falls.
