Pelo Camp

Pelo Camp is a small camp on a little heart-shaped island in the Okavango Delta. In a part of the Jao concession which has permanent water, this camp is a lovely place from which to explore Botswana’s iconic wilderness.

Accommodation & Facilities
Set under a mixed canopy of wild date palms, jackalberry and Natal mahogany trees, Pelo Camp is an intimate camp with just five safari tents. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a flush loo and inside and outside showers. The camp has a raised sundowner and viewing deck built upon an old ant hill, and a spacious and comfortable mess tent. There is also a small plunge pool for cooling down in the heat.

Wildlife & Activities
With permanent water surrounding its island, Pelo Camp is ideal for mokoro (dug-out canoe) and boat trips as long as the water levels allow. Guided bush walks allow guests to get further into the pristine habitats on the numerous small islands nearby, and must be pre-booked. Catch and release fishing is also offered from March to December. The birdlife in this part of the Delta is outstandingly diverse, and wildlife that may be seen includes hippo, croc, lechwe, kob, sitatunga, elephant, otter, and occasionally wildebeest and buffalo.
