Royal Zambezi Lodge

Royal Zambezi Lodge is set beside a wide stretch of the Zambezi River just outside the Lower Zambezi National Park, with wonderful views into the Mana Pools World Heritage Site across the river in Zimbabwe. This luxurious lodge mixes colonial architecture with great comfort in a wonderful, expansive setting.

Accommodation and facilities
There are 15 tented rooms with three levels of comfort, each positioned to allow great privacy and peaceful enjoyment of the surroundings. The canvas rooms are set under a thatched canopy, and have large en-suite bathrooms, and spacious viewing decks. Deluxe rooms and presidential suites have private salas, plunge pools, and outside showers. The d’cor makes excellent use of muted tones and African themed furniture. Royal Zambezi Lodge is the only property in the Lower Zambezi to have a proper spa, which is set high above the lodge and has stunning views across the river. The lodge bar is cantilevered over the river giving you fabulous views up and down steam, and the main building has a huge deck for meals and drinks to be enjoyed outside. The interior lounge features big, welcoming sofas, a large fireplace, and plenty of peaceful corners to sit. The lodge has an infinity pool overlooking the river, and it’s not uncommon to see plentiful wildlife while relaxing in it.

Wildlife and activities
Royal Zambezi Lodge offers day and night game drives, birding, boating, canoeing, fishing, and walking safaris. Wildlife is free to wonder in and out of the Lower Zambezi National Park and through the Chiawa Game Management Area, elephants are commonly seen coming to the river to drink in the late mornings, and the lodge isn’t complete without the resident pod of hippo. DNA (do nothing at all) is also a popular activity, and thanks to the prolific resident wildlife and birds there’s always plenty to be seen from your own deck or the main lodge.
