San Camp

San Camp is a small seasonal tented camp located on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana, one of the largest saltpans in the world. Open only from mid-April to mid-October, the camp has an isolated and spectacular setting with an immense view looking out over the Pans.

Accommodation & Facilities
A maximum of 12 guests are accommodated at San Camp in six large white canvas tents, which are set on slightly elevated wooden platforms. The beautifully decorated tents all have en-suite bathrooms with a shower and a flush loo. San Camp has a spacious mess tent which features a natural history museum and a library, a tea tent for afternoon tea, and a yoga pavilion with a small swimming pool.

Wildlife & Activities
Guests at San Camp can walk with local trackers or take day and night game drives into the Pans to see the remarkable amount of desert adapted wildlife that lives here, such as brown hyena, meerkat, and ostrich. Quad bike expeditions are an exciting way to explore the area, while game walks with a Bushman guide provide an opportunity to learn more about living in the desert and the fascinating Bushman culture.  Walks with families of habituated meerkats are a highlight of a stay here as well. Pre-booked riding during the dry season is available at an additional charge.
