Shumba

Shumba is a luxury tented camp in the in the heart of the Busanga Plains in the north west sector of Kafue National Park. From June to October the water level in the flood plains reduces to leave this remote and wild area which is home to a diverse variety of mammal and birds.

Accommodation & Facilities
Shumba Camp comprises six spacious luxury safari tents on raised platforms with spectacular views of the surrounding plains. The rooms are large, en-suite with both indoor and outdoor showers. The dining and bar area is elevated to take in the glorious vista and each morning’s sunrise. Dinner takes place either here or in the cosy boma where guests can also enjoy elements of local Zambian culture.

Wildlife & Activities
Activities at Shumba include day and night game drives and guided bush walks. Good lion and fantastic cheetah sightings are common. A number of other species not readily encountered in other countries are often seen including puku, defassa waterbuck, oribi, roan and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest. Birdlife is also abundant in this area and good concentrations of wattled crane, various pelicans, storks and herons are common. Balloon safaris are also possible in this region and offer a fantastic way to see this amazing landscape.
