Sindabezi

Sindabezi Island is a private paradise nestled in the waters of the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls. With a party of four or more, the island can be your own. Children of 14 years and over are welcome but the age limit is relaxed if a family takes the island privately. The island is not fenced so parents need to be responsible for their parents at all times.

Accommodation & Facilities
Sindabezi Island has five open-sided thatched chalets comprising of three doubles and two twins. The chalets are set on the edge of the Zambezi and have spectacular private views of the river and its wildlife. While three of the chalets have open air showers, two honeymoon chalets with romantic baths are also available. There are no family chalets but chalet two and three are very close to each other so are used for parents with older children so they can hear each other if needed. An extra child’s bed can fit in the twin room if required.

Eating & Sleeping
Children can have separate meal times. The chef is happy to discuss the children’s preference on your arrival and provide accordingly. For any specific dietary request please advise in advance. A listening service is offered whereby a member of staff will listen out for the kids if parents are having a later dinner.

Wildlife & Activities
There is no electricity on the island which gives a real sense of adventure and romance as you dine by candlelight on the sand or on the elevated decks. During a stay at Sindabezi guests can enjoy a number of local activities including boat and canoe trips on the river. It is also possible to partake in a variety of activities on offer around the Falls. Helicopter flights, bungee jumps and white water rafting are just a few things that can be arranged locally at an additional charge.

Specifically for children…
All the guides are brilliant with families and children and most activities included at Sindabezi are suited to families.
• There are two children’s bikes and a selection of children’s life jackets available at Tongabezi (Sindabezi’s sister lodge).
• A nice splash in the pool at Tongabezi.
• A visit to the Tujatane school where children can meet Zambian school kids is highly recommended.
• Cookie baking or pizza making at Tongabezi.
• Arts and crafts at Tujatane – need to pre-arrange (dependant on school holidays).
• Treasure island hunt.
• Build your own catapult and kites.
• Drum playing and traditional dance.
